SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of duties pertaining to cable television installation and servicing in customers' homes, apartments, and commercial properties. May assist aerial or underground construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:*
Installs directional taps, integrated cable, span clamps, ground blocks, ground wires, splitters, taps, cable connectors, converters and impedance matching transformers.
Assists in the construction of aerial and underground plant.
Performs all of the essential functions including disconnects, reconnects, installation of additional outlets and relocations.
Completes necessary paperwork for all work performed.
Explains cable service to customer and ensures that satisfactory work is provided.
Checks, maintains and uses proper safety equipment as issued in conformance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Company safety rules and regulations.
Climbs poles, ladders, towers and other structures as needed. Lifts and carries loads of up to 70 lbs; uses bucket truck when required. Works within limited confines, such as crawl spaces.
Operates and assists in maintenance of company vehicles.
Communicates with Customer Service as to status of assignments.
Other functions as assigned by management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (unless specified otherwise):
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 6 months customer service or related experience.
Must be able to operate basic hand tools.
Must be able to work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces.
Ability to interact with customers and co-workers; ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to do all types of drop installations correctly, whether alone or with others.
Proficiency in operating all normal controls on color televisions and audio components that are available to customers.
Ability to use correctly a signal level meter, a volt-OHM meter and applicable TV set.
Must posses a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
THE FOLLOWING WILL BE CONSIDERED BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous trade school.
Previous experience in cable television installation or like industry.
Proficient at pole climbing, and is able to use pole climbing equipment.
Knowledgeable of basic CATV theory, local, state, and federal regulations regarding cable television (specifically GO-95 and GO-128), and be familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code and most makes of television sets and VCR's.
English/Spanish bilingual.
